From the mad pace of Grand Central Terminal to the rebuilding of Yankee Stadium . . .

From stoop sales in Harlem to operetta on the Upper East Side . . .

From the woods and waters of Westchester to the Hamptons and beyond . . .

New York is the city that never sleeps—
and never stops dreaming

Journey across New York City and its outlying regions in New York Dreaming: Poems of the City, the Suburbs, and Daily Life—a personal, poetic tour of landmarks, neighborhoods, and events, from the devastation of 9/11 to peaceful wild-food foraging walks in Central Park. In poetry ranging from lush and classical to stark and modern, New York Dreaming also explores the ups and downs of everyday life in the big city and the 'burbs, including the turbulent world of corporate employment, the elation and heartbreak of romance and family life, and the big questions behind it all.

Leslie-Anne Brill has lived in the New York area all her life, and this book grows out of her lifelong love of the region. She was born in Queens, grew up in Scarsdale, and attended Cornell University.
She works in Manhattan part time as a medical editor and writer in pharmaceutical advertising. Leslie lives in Mamaroneck with her foraging-guru husband, "Wildman" Steve Brill, and their 6-year-old daughter, Violet. Visit Leslie at lesliebrillpoetry.com.
