The NaematolomasThis is a group of small to medium-sized mushrooms with dark-colored gills and purple-brown spore prints. The gills attach to the stem. There's no ring around the stem, but sometimes you may see a faint circle of fibrils around the stem. They decompose wood in the fall, especially common toward the end of the season. Some are good edibles, none are choice, some are inedible, hallucinogenic, or poisonous. You can use the good edible species is as a minor constituents in recipes that focuses on other ingredients. For example, include them in a chili or other stew. Or you can simply make up for their modest flavor by adding flavors yourself, i.e. pickling them. |
