These 3 foraging tours are part of their annual Birds of Prey Day. We'll be exploring a farm with plenty of open, sunny areas as well as woodlands, ideal for late spring foraging.
Common edible "weeds" such as Asiatic dayflower, poor man's pepper, chickweed, wood sorrel, and sheep sorrel grow in sunny areas throughout.
The trail sides are full of violets and field garlic, along with sassafras and black birch trees. Thickets will be rampant with greenbriar and pokeweed.
This is an excellent place for wild mushrooms, especially if it's rained beforehand. We'll be on the lookout for gigantic chicken mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, gem-studded puffballs, and wine-cap stropharias.
