ROARING BROOK NATURE CENTER
Saturday, June 7

This spectacular natural habitat will feature foraging at its best. This is "Wildman's" first visit, so any springtime herbs and greens could be popping up.

We'll look for herbs and greens such as chickweed, lamb's-quarters, violets, field garlic, and daylilies in sunny, open areas.

In the spectacular scenic woods, we'll look for pungent garlic mustard, root beer-flavored sassafras, and spicy ramps.

This is the best-tasting member of the onion family. Use in any recipe calling for onions or shallots, and you won't believe how tasty this sought-after green can be.

Common milkweed, yarrow, and mullein should be growing in fields, while stinging nettles, pokeweed, and greenbriar, all delicious, may be coming up along the edges of trails and woods.
